This post will feature a “Quick Tip or Trick” for each our 4 Categories: Decluttering and Organizing, Design and Decorating, Going Green and Organic and Home Improvement. Every week there will be a new theme. Then, because that’s how we roll, we’ll have a joke related to our category.
This Week’s Theme Is: Kitchens
Decluttering and Organizing
Leftovers
Once things get shoved in front of them, it’s easy to forget about leftovers – until we clean out the fridge 2 weeks later and say, “Oh man, I forgot that was in here!” To help with this, post a list of your current leftovers on your fridge, or somewhere nearby. You’ll be much more likely to eat them if you have there’s a visual “inventory” posted. Source
You could always keep it simple and just make a list and stick it to the fridge with a magnet. Or, if you’re feeling more ambitious, check out these ideas from Pinterest.

Design and Decorating
Tops of Kitchen Cabinets
Our kitchen has vaulted ceilings, so there’s a lot of room between the tops of our cabinets and the ceiling. I’ve made a few half-hearted attempts to decorate the tops of my cabinets, but it’s still not wowing me. I’m always perplexed about what to put there.
This article suggests silk flowers or pretty pottery, or, go more specific, and carry the theme of your kitchen to the cabinets. So, if you have a wine theme, put some pretty wine bottles up there. Here’s some more Pinterest inspiration:

Going Green and Organic
Skip rinsing your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, and you’ll save time, and approximately 15 gallons of water per load.
Home Improvement
Use space under your hanging cabinets, for items like paper towel holders, jars or baskets to hold things in. Source
